Fiverr Review
In this blog I'll be doing a Fiverr review. So before we
dive in I just wanted to say that I'll be covering both the perspective of a
buyer and the perspective of a seller on Fiverr. Now just to briefly tell you a
little bit about myself I've been using Fiverr since 2012 and I've actually
sold thousands of dollars worth of gigs on Fiverr. I've also purchased over
1200 gigs on there so probably around 10,000 when you look at it. So with that being
said i think i can give you a good perspective of how the platform works. Some
of the pros and cons on the platform I'll also have some affiliate links below.
If you want to see some of the best gigs that I use and recommend on their site
with that quick intro out of the way. Let's dive into the buyers perspective.
So from a buyer's perspective Fiverr is tough to beat. I say this because you
can outsource all kinds of projects or tasks that you either don't want to do
or don't have time for. There's ones that you might not even be able to do
yourself that you need someone that's more of an expert to be able to help you.
So if you're someone like me who has worked full-time while creating an online
business. What you can do is use your ability to leverage how you pay for
things. So if you want to pay someone to work on tasks while you're at work
during the day it's incredibly beneficial for that and you can see right here
there's people that can do all kinds of things. So it says logo design WordPress
voiceover whiteboard social media. I've literally probably outsourced to all
these things right here before SEO which I definitely have outsourced to before
on various sites. That i have illustrations translation data entry and book
covers probably out of the 10 that i just showed you the only one i haven't
done is a book cover. So I've literally used all these popular services right
here. You can go and just see which ones are available and which ones would
work well for you. So another benefit here that i wanted to cover is that if
you're someone who lives in a country where five dollars is not a lot of money.
Like in the united states for example you can basically do some kind of digital
arbitrage in a way and take advantage of the favorable exchange rate. So if you
can find someone to make alogo for example for just five dollars or maybe
fifteen dollars in this case up here for one of these top rated sellers. If you
can get somebody to do that for only five dollars ten dollars fifteen dollars. It's
not a whole lot of money and it's a whole lot less than you'd find someone to
make a good looking logo like one of these four fifteen dollars or five dollars
or something like that within your own country. Because of how favorable the
exchange rate is. It's essentially a way to leverage your time for less money
while taking advantage of these favorable exchange rates. This is something
that i should mention works both ways. So maybe where someone lives fifteen
dollars is a lot for a logo and with their exchange rate. It might be the equivalent
of five times the amount of what they're charging because of how the exchange
rate works. So it's a great way to take advantage of it and it actually
benefits both the buyers and sellers by linking the two together. Another
benefit that i wanted to mention as a buyer is that you actually get more
protection than the gig seller does. So this is a negative for a seller but
definitely a positive for a buyer because you can request multiple revisions or
dispute orders to get your money back. If the seller does a poor job now this
is something i try to avoid and when I looked at over my 1200 orders that I've
done on the site there's only been about seven percent that I've had to cancel.
So you can put that in perspective and see that overall for the gigs I've
ordered. I've gotten what i want about 93 percent of the time so there have
been times that i actually had to request revisions where if something is
messed up in. Let's say an image that i order or something like that then may
be i have to go back and have them redo that or if there's data that's wrong i
might have to have them make a revision to that. But rarely do you need to do
revisions from my experience and with only seven percent of gigs canceled that really
isn't that bad in my opinion. But again you do have that advantage as a buyer
to be able to go back and request revisions and cancel the order if you're not
happy at all. With the results now as a seller on the platform I actually had a
pretty good experience overall and now I've actually considered going back on
here because they offer these pro services. These are vetted professional
services and are verified by Fiverr. So if i were to just click this on you're
gonna see that you can actually charge hundreds of dollars even thousands of
dollars to have these vetted services that are pro services. So this is logo
design and it says starting at 900. if i were to click on this this is going to
be an expensive gig but nine hundred dollars fifteen hundred dollars twenty six
hundred dollars for two logos. They're going to be professional high-end logos.
Now personally i just wouldn't pay that much for a logo especially with some of
the great logos I've got on here. But you could do this for WordPress for an
example and look at pro once for WordPress. You might be able to find someone
that can make you a beautiful looking site for cheaper than you can get within
your local area. Overall i would say if you have a passion or skill that you're
looking to earn some extra money from it's worth checking out. There's so many
different categories here on the site that you could go and put gigs up for and
start earning some extra money from them. It's definitely worth checking out in
my opinion and at least brainstorming and seeing what you can charge for things
or if there's ways that you can make extra money online by offering something
that you like to do. Anyway so as a seller there's a couple drawbacks that you
should be aware of before you start. One is that they have a pretty big fee
structure so the overall fee is that you're going to get a 20 fee on whatever
you sell so for example if you have a gig listed for 100 and you do the order
for someone and complete that order you're going to be paid eighty dollars. Another
negative that you're going to actually have to wait fourteen days after it is
marked as completed so then you'll be able to withdraw the funds after that
14-day period. In reality nobody wants to wait that long when they've done the
work but i will say the process used to be longer than 14 days when i was
selling gigs on here a lot in the past. So i should give them some credit here
and improving the overall turnaround time but still 14 days to wait after you
do the work kind of stinks in my opinion. Now of course all these terms could
change over time and they've changed several times over the years that i've
been on a platform. However it gives you a good idea or an overview of the
platform. What you can potentially expect to see now overall i would say that Fiverr definitely favors the buyers on their site over the sellers. If you're
looking to purchase some gigs on there and really get your online business
moving quickly for less money i think it's a no-brainer to use as a buyer. As i
mentioned earlier i've got some links below to Fiverr gigs that i recommend
checking out.
